Ashburnham School is located just off the King’s Road in an area known for hundreds of years as ‘World’s End’.
The area became a famous part of the counter-culture of the 1960s, and is perhaps best known for the Vivienne Westwood shop, still trading today, with its famous clock-face.
We share this part of Chelsea with some great neighbours.
The majority of Ashburnham’s Year 6 pupils move on to Chelsea Academy. The school opened in September 2009 in brand new, purpose-built buildings on Lot’s Road, five minutes’ walk from Ashburnham.
The Academy is a mixed Church of England Academy for students aged between 11 and 18, with an intake of 162 pupils per year. Ofsted has graded it as ‘Outstanding’, and you can read the full report here.
Chelsea Theatre is a recently renovated contemporary performance space and community hub which combines artistic excellence and community participation. Ashburnham has used the theatre space in the past for drama projects.
WERA was set up by the residents of the estate, where many of our families live, to represent the views and interests of all residents when dealing with the Council. The Association ensures that residents are regularly and properly consulted on what is happening on the estate and tries to foster a wider sense of community and cooperation amongst all of the estate’s residents. They aim to ensure that all of the estate’s varied communities are properly represented and are able to participate in its activities.
Local businesses
We are blessed with a wide array of local businesses who support us by donating to Ashburnham School Association charitable projects and and other activities. They range from small independent traders businesses to national chains. Please give something back by supporting them.
The Salvation Army
We have a good relationship with the Salvation Army which is just a few short steps from the school. We like to donate unwanted items for sale, and they’re great at lending us their tables for the Summer Fair. It’s these little things that help us both to succeed.
